Tub is Love: Great Bathrooms and Bath Soaks

On a rainy day like today, a nice hot bath is a great way to unwind and warm up. There are few things I like more than slipping into a bath with a glass of wine, candles and some Etta James.

Check out some of my favorite bath inspiration pics and bath recipes below!

English Breakfast Bath

Screen shot 2014-11-17 at 12.34.40 PMLove this English Victorian bathroom, with claw foot tub and chandelier. The claw foot is a classic, and they took it full circle here with the fireplace, chandelier, and cozy flokati bringing a homey elegance to the room. The deep blue accent paint gives it an unexpected richness and warmth.

 English Breakfast Bath Soak:

1 cup milk or almond milk

1 tsp vanilla

2 English Breakfast (or black tea of any kind) bags, let steep for 3 minutes

Dash of Cinnamon

This bath will soften your skin and create a total sensory experience of warmth, and comfort, while the caffeine in the black tea promotes circulation and fights cellulite.

Clean Energy Bath

Screen shot 2014-11-17 at 12.49.50 PMThis living plant wall bathroom is a great idea, the humidity from the bath hydrates the plants and in turn the plants increase air quality and air purity! So cool. If you have an apartment without outdoor access this is also a great way to bring the outdoors in and relax around some greenery.

Clean Energy Bath Soak:

1 Tbsp Clary Sage Essential Oil

1 Tbsp Rosemary

2 Green Tea bags, let steep for 3 minutes (then place on your eyes while soaking, once they have cooled)

This bath will give your aura a new shine as the clary sage, rosemary, and green tea work together to soothe and refresh your energy field, clearing out the stress of the day and reinvigorating you for tomorrow.

Chic & Simple Country Cottage

Screen shot 2014-11-17 at 12.47.07 PMThis bath is a sensory reset from all the overstimulation we face everyday: television, advertising, computer screens, and traffic. This all white country cottage is a reset from the noise, a back to basics call to relaxation and calibration with a simpler time.

All White Detox Bath:

1 cup Epsom salt

1 cup Baking Soda

1 Tbsp Fresh Ginger

Get ready to sweat it out with these simple yet high-powered ingredients. Set the water as hot as you can handle, and soak for at least 20 minutes. This bath is great for colds and flu, hangovers, and general recovery.   Keep a glass of cold drinking water next to you, as you will definitely need it!

A Zen Moment

Screen shot 2014-11-17 at 12.36.02 PMI can hear the Tibetan chanting from here.   This is so tranquil and clean. This bathroom was clearly designed with the principles of Feng Shui in mind as the bathtub is next to a window so the bather can enjoy nature while soaking. It is also important for positive Feng Shui and for air quality to bring plants into your bathroom.

Zen Bath:

1 cup Epsom Salt

1 Tbsp Lavender

2 Chamomile Tea Bags

This bath is perfect for sore muscles and dry skin. Here’s something amazing about Epsom Salts, your body will soak up the magnesium in Epsom salts so this bath will actually give you a dose of magnesium. Magnesium helps regenerate and heal skin cells, regulates blood pressure, reduces swelling, and even heals bruising. Chamomile is perfect for dry or irritated skin and lavender is an extremely relaxing scent. Combined this bath will help you to unwind and heal, so light some candles and wade in!

I hope you enjoy these baths, and if you have any of your own favorite bath concoctions we’d love to hear them! Please share, and happy bathing 🙂
